Westward School

ISA 5-a-Side Football Tournament

On a damp and misty Friday, Westward travelled to Virgo Fidelis for the regional ISA football tournament. In the squad were: Connor, Nishaan, Laurence, Luke, Ruaridh, Nahar, Henry and Dylan. Mr Mills and Mr Evans were the coaches.

Our first game against Duke of Kent was tough, and although we scored a good goal by Connor, Duke of Kent scored some good goals in reply; the final score 1-4.

Our next two games were tight affairs against Rosemead and The Mead, both of which we lost narrowly, with Connor and Henry combining well to score three goals.

Next up were Oakhyrst Green, which brought us our win, with Nishaan scoring two goals, the first of which was a screamer from outside the box! Top bins!

With three games to go we faced a very good White House side, and although we played hard, they scored some very good team goals to beat us.

Our penultimate game against Heath House was a very tight drawn match, which we were unfortunate not to win, due to some super goalkeeping by the Heath House goalie.

Our last match against White Lodge was a good team effort, although we were undone by some super skills from their attacker.

All in all, we represented the school well, both on, and off the pitch and good fun was had by all. We learnt a lot about ourselves and will take many positive lessons for future games.

Special mention needs to be made about our goalkeeper, Dylan, who was outstanding throughout the tournament, showing great positional sense, bravery and tenacity.
