Westward School Choir performance at the Surrey School’s Concert

5th March 2017 in Leatherhead

Westward School choir took part in the Surrey School’s Concert on Sunday, 5th March 2017.

Eight schools from Surrey displayed their musical talent by singing or performing pieces on instruments. All schools raised money for the “Children’s Trust”, the leading UK charity for children with brain injuries.

Our performance was scheduled half way through the programme. The children were waiting patiently and were very excited when it was our turn. We started our performance with the song “I am just one small voice”. This song was accompanied by Isobel Wright (Year 6) on the piano and was very well sung with the two-part harmony.

The second song was called “Glorious” and it indeed sounded glorious hearing our young voices singing passionately as a choir.

Our third song, “My Heart Will Go On”, from the film “Titanic” was well sung with great dynamics.

We finished our performance with the famous instrumental piece “Hallelujah” played by a group of musicians from different year groups. Sienna (Year 2), Katie C (Year 3), Monty (Year 5) played their violins, Chloe (Year 6) her cello and Isobel (Year 6) the piano and sung the words. Her beautiful, strong voice was heard clearly throughout the chapel, producing a moving performance.

It was really wonderful. The children sung so beautifully and the musical group played so well together. Very well done to everybody!
